Hunted - Evangeline Anderson

In Book 2, we read Sophia's story. Sophia is afraid of needles and ends up with none other than Sylvan - a vampire type of Kindred who's escorting her to a wedding. But when their ship goes down after it's attacked by the All Father, they both have to rely on each other if they're going to make it out alive.

Sophia's got nothing to worry about since Sylvan has vowed never to take another mate, but what up with the strange longing looks the Kindred keeps giving her? And why does she tingle in all the right places whenever he's around?

Just when things couldn't get more complicated, a detour takes them to Sylvan's homeworld where Sophia learns so much about the withdrawn Kindred. Now that she's gotten to know him better, will they come together as one?

But what about the danger still lurking after them? Can they make it back to their friends in one piece?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was a great continuation to the series and I especially liked Xairn (the All Father's son). Y'all know I love a tortured hero and he's no exception. It broke my heart reading his story and especially how his sadistic father ended the life of his pet. Ugh! *sobs* Can't wait to see how his story unfolds.
Great Paranormal Read!
Crimson Debt - Evangeline Anderson
Addison is a non-glam human, and can't be glamoured by vampires. This makes her job working as an Auditor ideal as she keeps the vampires in her area in check - making sure they don't do any harm to humans.
But Addison - who initially wanted to be a Literature professor - has a powerful reason for choosing her job, her best friend, Taylor. Addison and Taylor were both two young college girls in pursuit of their dreams until one fateful night they catch a show of a powerful vampire, Celeste.
Celeste takes a liking a to Taylor and takes her against her will, turning her into a vampire. Now, both of the girls' lives have changed forever. Celeste is not a good master, and treats Taylor horribly.
Addison is besides herself and no matter how many citations she issues, she just cant save her best friend - after all the Auditors only help humans. She sets about trying to do her job, and ends up at Under the Fang, a local club run by an old vampire, Alec Corbin.
Corbin constantly hits on her, but Addison pays him no mind since it's illegal for vampires and humans to be in a relationship. But Corbin comes on to her relentlessly and maybe it's time Addison took one for the team. Addison calls in a favor to Corbin, she'll do whatever he wants in exchange for him helping out her friend, Taylor.
Corbin readily agrees, and makes Addison his consort as the Inquisitor in town, an older and much more powerful vampire than him has set his hooks on poor Taylor. In order to pull it off that Corbin and Addison are actually together, they have to fake being in a relationship, but is it really faking? Addison can't help her attraction for Corbin and Corbin can't help himself around Addison.
Danger and intrigue rolls around each corner as Addison tries to free her best friend of her predicament. Will Corbin's savviness prevail or will the inquisitor enslave everyone and everything Corbin has worked for in his existence?
And what about the Crimson Debt? Vampires can't control themselves when having sex and they are offered blood. The result is a human who looks like they've been through a blender, but the Crimson Debt is said to cure all ills, especially when it's done out of love. Will the Crimson Debt be Addison's saving grace or will it end up claiming her life?
----------------------
This is truly the book Charlaine Harris should have written. There were so many similarities to the Sookie Stackhouse series, without any of the annoying nuances those other characters carried  - and no seals having sex scenes. LOL
Addison is brave and has a good head on her shoulders, plus her snarkiness is awesome. Definitely loving this series!
The Crown - Kiera Cass
Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars! Finally I've read the entire series that captured my heart! The continuation of The Selection.
In the conclusion we see America's daughter choose love from all the members of her selection and the constant problems with the state of affairs just beginning in my opinion. Now they've turned over the country to the people to govern themselves it's going to be a free for all.
I'm not one for Beta Males and this continuation was riddled with it, so I stuck it out mainly for America and Maxon to see what becomes of them. So glad everyone made it out okay!
SPOILER ALERT!
Not a fan.
Base Instincts - Larissa Ione
Rating 2 out of 5 stars. I definitely skim read this read all about some nobody characters in the Demonica series.
Seminus demons can only have female mates, so of course it was an anomaly that Rake is gay. But to survive, he paired up with a succubus who gives him what he needs. But all that changes when he meets Rake, a bounty hunter who likes to experiment as well.
Can Slake and Rake make their relationship work or will Slake's DNA be what sets them apart?
---------------
I was all sorts of confused with this read - partly because I skim read the whole thing. The author was pretty concrete on the rules of the Seminus demons so it seemed like the whole book was just a big blurb on how she was doing a work-around to get into the m/m scene.
In the end, it turned out Rake was really a woman, but who had transformed into a man when she became of age, therefore the requirement between Slake and Rake worked out. Just all sorts of confusing and the succubus story was a bit much and over the top. Definitely not a fan, especially since the characters were nobodys in the storyline - just random characters no one ever heard about.
Z: A Demonica Underworld Novella - Larissa Ione
Rating 3 out of 5 stars. Z is Azagoth's right hand man. He's been celibate for hundreds of years, as he promised himself to his love, Laura. Both he and Laura were angels in Heaven, but Laura fell. Because of his enormous love for Laura, Z falls as well, just to join her. But before he can reach her, she's killed.
Z searches for Laura in Azagoth's realm, but before he can be reunited with her, she's reincarnated in another body. So Z waits around until Laura can come back to him, never being tempted with anyone else but her.
Vex is a soul collector for profit, but since Revenant took over Hell, her business contacts have come up dry. In order to extract the souls she's collected, she turns to Azagoth himself to do the deed.
When Vex goes to Azagoth's realm and tells Z of her plight, she beckons Z to touch her and feel the 5 souls within her. Z is alarmed and elated - Laura is one of the souls within Vex.
The story then takes off and we get to see a lot of Azagoth and his powers, but can Azagoth extract all the souls from Vex without killing her, or is Z doomed to spend eternity forever waiting for Laura?
 ---------
I totally wasn't a fan of this one. It got super tiresome hearing about Z and Laura. Ugh, so annoying. I definitely could have skipped this one.
Hades: A Demonica Novella - Larissa Ione
Rating 5 out of 5 Stars: Hades serves Azagoth and is charged with holding souls until they are reincarnated. He's gotten on Azagoth's shit list for killing one of his sons in the past, and as a result, Azagoth forbids him any contact with females in his realm, only allowing him a few hours here and there to spend some time on Earth.
Hades knows he can't form any lasting relationships, so he goes with the flow until he meets, Cat, the gorgeous red head working for Azagoth. But before he can make a move, he's warned to keep away from her or face Azagoth's wrath. Resigned to his fate, Hades only looks and longs from afar.
Cat is a recent Fallen Angel trying her best to get her wings back - and only finds herself distracted with all the man candy at her disposal while working with Azagoth. First there was Z - who turned out to be a dud, though the rumor quickly ran that they had been together. Then there's Hades, the powerful Enigma she wishes would even look her way.
Cat's a terrible housekeeper and always ends up breaking more things than she cleans. So it's no surprise that one day she accidentally opens up Azagoth's portal and ushers souls to the wrong place. At first she feels like nothing could have possibly happened wrong, so she decides to keep mum on the matter.
But when Reaver shows up a few days later saying everything's about to come undone, Cat decides to take upon herself and fix her wrongs. She travels to Hades' domain and learns more about the powerful man she's been longing for. But will they be able to make things work when it's discovered that she's off limits to Hades? And will Cat be able to mend her wrongs, or is all lost forever?
All done!
— feeling happy
Revenant - Larissa Ione
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars. I'm finally all done with this series! Revenant (Rev) was a good series wrap up which mostly dealt with Rev and Blaspheme (Blas).
First off, I didn't really get into the Rev/Blas pair up, though I'm not sure why. All the elements were there - a snarky girl, a bad boy alpha...yum, but not sure why I just wasn't into it.
Gethel's still in the picture and in the pregnancy of hell - literally LOL She's still carrying Lucifer and she's in need of a doctor to ensure her devil spawn will be born all right. Rev is tasked with her well being and he sets off to get Blas to help her.
Blas - who's undergoing a problem we've never even heard about in COUNTLESS books and two series, mind you, is probably one of the worst creations ever to be created - an offspring of a fallen angel and an angel. Her kind is hunted down and killed and to avoid detection, an elaborate spell which lasts 100 or so years must be done to hide their essence.
It's been over a 100 years and Blas, a doctor at UG knows she must undertake the ritual to hide her true self to avoid detection. But in doing so, she has to end another creature's life, and she just can't live with the guilt. While she's dealing with this, Rev comes into her life and it seems he won't quit until she gives him what he wants - to take care of Gethel and to warm his bed.
Blas takes this opportunity to find a way to rid the world of Gethel and Lucifer, enlisting E's and Reaver's help. But can she concentrate on matters long enough, or is Rev's sexy and irresistible ways just too much for her?
----------------
Revenant was a good ending to the series. I wish there had been more of a wrap up with the other characters - a really in depth visit with them all before we left them (for example we don't even know what became of Limos and Arik, since Limos is still pregnant at the end of Revenant), but the story was centered mostly on Reaver and Rev's newfound brotherly relationship.
Rev & Blas' story seemed a little rushed, so I didn't really get into it as much as I would have liked, but I still enjoyed it.
The author says we haven't seen the end of the story as she's picking up another series which takes place 25 years into the future. That should be interesting :)
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars.
SPOILER ALERT!
Love it!
— feeling love
Reaver - Larissa Ione
Rating: 5 out 5 Stars. Reaver's and Harvester's story was just amazing! The whole series, which I didn't even know what it was called - since there is no such thing as Lords of Deliverance in the entire story lines?? - has been leading up to this story!
All of the plots, subplots, hidden plots, obscure mentions - you name it, it's found it's way here. Every single action is explained as events which began thousands of years ago when two angels: Yenrieth and Verinne fell in love.
But before we go into that, we take a few steps back. Reaver was first introduced in the Demonica Series as a fallen angel who was working as an EMT. He had no memories of his previous life and all he wanted was to be an angel again. He ends up saving the world in the Demonica series and getting his wings back,
Now as the star in this new series - and yes he is the star, because ultimately this series isn't about the Horsemen, it's what happened as a result of Reaver's actions, we finally learn all the whys and whats that have been kept secret for centuries.
Yenrieth was a powerful angel in Heaven, so powerful it was rumored he was a Radiant - an angel able to channel power from Heaven and Hell, whose power was only matched by God, Satan, and Metatron (an Archangel). But Yenrieth was impulsive, brash, hardheaded, and didn't like to follow orders, so Metatron bound his powers until he could mature and control himself.
But Yenrieth has no time for this and falls in love with Verinne, Satan's actual daughter he sired before he fell from grace. After they have a lover's spat, Yenrieth rushes into Lilith's arms and impregnates her with four offspring which would later become the Horsemen,
Verienne finds out and is devastated Yenrieth could have betrayed her like he did. But she can't think about revenge just yet, as she finds out Lilith is pregnant, but Yenrieth has no knowledge of this. Since Yenrieth is out moping and upset he's bedded a succubus - a direct hit to his angel pride - Verienne knows he can't handle the news he's going to be a father, so she vows to take care of his children.
Thirty years pass and Verienne lives up to her promises, and then Yenrieth finally learns the truth. When he confronts Verienne he's shocked to learn she's known all along and in his immaturity, he seeks to get revenge on her by seducing her and leaving her. Just as he's reeling from what he's done, Yenrieth gets a nasty surprise and learns he has a paternal twin and his origins are revealed. He goes on a rampage that earns him his fall from grace and a total memory loss of his past. He's given a new name: Reaver.
No one remembers details of Yenrieth, and his existence is a mere rumor, except to Verienne who has memories of him, but not his face.
With Yenrieth no longer in the picture and the curse of the Horsemen in place, Veienne gets an idea to fall so she can become the guardian of the Horsemen but on the Hell side. She agrees to be a spy for Heaven and thwart any plot brought on my Hell to avoid the Horsemen breaking their seals, and in that way she'll safeguard Yenrieth's sons.
Verienne falls and she's now known as Harvester. She keeps Yenrieth's memory alive and watches over his children the best she can. She walks a fine line doing Satan's bidding, but yet finding subtle ways to help Heaven as well.
So it's a daily battle when Harvester and Reaver both get Guardian duty over the Horsemen, though they both don't know who Reaver really is. The residual sentiments they both feel for each other linger over them and it's awesome watching the fireworks in their chemistry go off!
Under Heaven's orders, Harvester takes Reaver and imprisons and tortures him, something Reaver vows he's going to kill her for. But when the Reaver learns Harvester was a spy for Heaven, he changes his mind and realizes he must save her when Hell finds out she's been double crossing them all along
No angel steps in to save Harvester, stating that she knew what she had signed up for, but Reaver kicks it into high gear and decides to stage a rescue attempt himself. With the help of 3 assassins: a Warg named Matt, a demon named Caldor who can sense Harrowgates, and Tav a healing demon, they set to rescue Harvester from torture in Hell.
The rescue takes forever in the book and only Tav makes it out alive. Once they make it out, they have to deal with Gethel who's pregnant with Lucifer and with a Heavenly plot led by Raphael to change Limo's baby with Gethel's so they could kill Lucifer. The plot fails, but Limos' baby isn't returned and the clock is ticking for her child to be returned.
Reaver is a non-stop thrill ride that delivers everything you want from a book!
I'm not sure where the story takes off from here - the only loophole they left undone was to reveal what's to become of Reaver's brother. And the only thing in this book that left a bad taste in my mouth was the two guys who helped Reaver in hell: Matt and Caldor died in hell and not so much as mention was made of them.
I thought when demons died in Hell, their souls got trapped there and they would endure torture. Matt at least was taken prisoner in battle and tortured and killed by Satan, but Caldor was unnecessarily killed after Harvester fed from Reaver and she was in a maddened state. She blew off his head after Caldor walks in to tell them he'd found the way out. Just senseless.
I kept wanting to read they at least went back for their souls after they'd helped Reaver rescue Harvester. So disappointing that didn't make the cut. Other than that, I enjoyed the book.
Skim-Read Thru Reseph's Storyline
Rogue Rider - Larissa Ione
Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars. To me there just isn't any plausible way to find any redeemable qualities in Reseph when he turned into Pestilence. Perhaps if we had met him as Res, I might have found a way back, but since all we've seen are the atrocities he's committed as Pestilence I just couldn't immerse myself into his story.
I skim-read through any/all mentions of Res and Jillian. I just skimmed that Jillian had been attacked by some Soulshredder demons during the height of Pestilence's attack on the world. She survived, but is left a shell of herself.
Living in an isolation after her life falls apart, she's surprised one day to find a stranger in a snowbank - oh a naked stranger. She immediately takes the unconscious man home and nurses him to health. The stranger has lost his memory and only remembers he is called Reseph.
So begins a new life for Jillian who eventually falls in love with the stranger and the stranger in turn falls in love with her. When Res tells her he plans to stop searching for answers to who he is and instead revel in the happiness he finds in her, all hell breaks loose.
His past comes back to haunt him as his siblings find him and take him back to his previous life. Memories of what he'd done as Pestilence come back to him and he's tormented for days for the atrocities he's committed.
Desperate to end his suffering, his siblings turn to Harvester who tells them she can bond Jillian to Res and let him regain his sanity. After it's revealed that Pestilence was directly responsible for the demon attack she endured, Jillian moves past her trauma and finds her strength in the love she feels for Res. She decides to bind with him.
Now for the first time, Res is faced with having something/someone to fight for. Before he's always stayed on the sidelines, just letting life pass him by. But now he knows he must fight the evil Pestilence inside him if he is ever to live a happy life with Jillian. But can he do it?
------
I'm sorry, but no amount of head bashing or eye gouging can make up for all the heinous acts Pestilence committed. I can't find any redeeming qualities for this character, so I couldn't even immerse myself in Res' storyline. So I totally skimmed any passages on him and Jillian and only read the when other characters came out. Here's the best parts of this book:
Reaver: A huge secret is revealed regarding Reaver and how he's tied into the Four Horsemen. I was floored and definitely didn't see it coming.
Harvester: I sensed something was up with this character, but I had no clue as to the realities of her betrayal. OMG in a few seconds, she totally had me and I was floored by her sacrifice and Whine??? *faints and sobs*
Lilith - So glad she's finally dead! Glad Res killed her, but still he's not redeemed by any means to me, nor someone I care to read about. IMHO, he should have been killed and that would have been that. If Larissa Ione wanted me as a reader to care about Res, we should have met him for a whole book as Res and known him, not Pestilence.
Lucifer - So he's also dead, but no big deal there. Gethel is still on the loose and it seems like she's going to be the last one to go down.
Revenant - he's new to the series. The Watcher fallen angel assigned to the Horsemen. I really wasn't interested in him, except he's going to get his own book coming up. So, I imagine he's going to be important somehow.
Limos - she's pregnant! Woot! That was great news!
Now I'm all set and pumped for Reaver's book! OMG can't wait for him to rescue Harvester!!! *faints*
